Criminal Justice

The Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice is a four-year interdisciplinary program in the study of crime and the administration of the justice system. The “criminal justice system” study consists of law enforcement, courts, and corrections as a system for the administration of city, county, state, and federal laws and procedures. The program will endow students with the skills necessary for critical knowledge, communication, personal growth, and real-world application opportunities within the Criminal Justice discipline. The curriculum includes a historical overview of the stages of development through which the criminal justice system has evolved and the current state of the system. A broad range of analyses will be offered to meet the academic needs of both professional students who plan future careers in the criminal justice field and those already employed in the criminal justice system.

The Associate of Arts (A.A.) in Liberal Studies is designed for the non-traditional student who has little or no previous college experience. This intermediate degree allows for flexibility in scheduling - classes are offered in the evenings. This degree provides you with the foundation to further your studies in a bachelor's degree of your choice. Courses in this degree provide you with the fundamentals to succeed in your future studies. Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with EC-6 Generalist Certification

The Bachelor of Arts in Education with EC-6 Certification offers a flexible path to becoming a Texas elementary school teacher while earning your degree. The HT Educator Preparation Program (EPP) is accredited by the Texas Education Agency State Board of Educator Certification. Students admitted to the EPP receive rigorous instruction in research-based best practices for teaching elementary language arts, math, science, and social studies. Additionally, teacher candidates will acquire the knowledge and skills to teach special needs students successfully.
